Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which Sage accounting package is right for my business?

Sage offer a wide range of accounting software to suit everyone from business start-ups to large enterprises.  The Sage Instant range is aimed at business start ups and small, more straightforward businesses. The Line 50 range is also aimed at small and growing businesses but has more advanced features.  The Line 100 range upwards is for mid range businesses.

Within each range there are further choices depending on the features needed and reporting detail required.  The best way to determine the product most suited to your business is to discuss your requirements with someone who understands both the Sage software and business issues and can therefore advise you accordingly.

What reports can Sage Accounts provide me with to help me run my business?

Certain reports come as standard with both the Instant and Line 50 range.  Examples are profit and loss accounts and balance sheets to enable you to periodically monitor your business performance.  Other useful reports include aged debtors and creditors reports to aid with credit control, budget reports comparing performance to budget and top customer summaries.  However there is a vast array of reports available depending on which version you select and it is important to identify the ones which will be most valuable to you in your business.

Can I use Sage Accounts to create my invoices?

Yes, the software will produce invoices and then post the figures into the accounting system when told to, reducing the time spent on paperwork.  There are a number of standard invoice layouts available together with the option for Sage to design a tailored layout for you or for you to design your own depending on which accounts package you have.

What other software is available to integrate with my Sage accounting software?

There is a large range of software which can link up to Sage to reduce time spent entering data in more than one programme.  Examples are payroll packages, job costing software, forecasting programmes and software tailored to specific industries such as retail and manufacturing.
