Frequently Asked Questions
Should I install a computerised system for my book-keeping?
Yes, with the proviso that you obtain all the relevant training from the software supplier and are prepared to have more if you are finding it difficult.
A poorly managed computer system can create more problems rather than solve them.
Should I get my software supplier to run a year end health check?
We would strongly recommend this.
It ensures that the correct opening balances are on the system for next year’s accounts which makes the accounts preparation easier and cheaper.
What book-keeping system should I use?
There are a number of options available including manual and computerised systems.
Whilst a manual or spreadsheet system may be more appropriate for very small businesses with few transactions, a computerised bookkeeping package can be purchased at a relatively low cost and will include time saving features as well as providing a number of reports to assist you with managing your business.
For general business we provide support on a range of Sage software packages and we are familiar with most of the major products on the market for SME’s such as Pegasus, MYOB, Quickbooks.
On the agriculture side we support a number of industry specific packages such as Farmplan and Key Accounts.
Can you do my book-keeping for me?
Yes we provide a bureau service which will ensure you comply with your business record keeping requirements.
We will be happy to discuss this with you and provide a quote for the work based on the specific circumstances of your business.
It is usually the case where we are maintaining the business records for us to undertake VAT return preparation as well.
There are often savings for you in terms of the time it takes us to produce the year end accounts where we are involved with book-keeping as invariably we will be putting the records together accurately and in a way which suits our system procedures each month/quarter as appropriate.
